Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce Statement:
Impacts of Homelessness & The Drug Poisoning Crisis on Local Businesses

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce recognizes the significant challenges our community faces due to the rise in homelessness, illicit drug use and the resulting public unrest. These issues profoundly impact the community as a whole and also, more specifically, our local businesses; affecting sales, tourism, and the safety of both employees and clients.

The Chamber is committed to supporting initiatives that offer long-term solutions to these complex problems. Local businesses are the backbone of our community, and their struggles in the current climate cannot be ignored. Increased crime and street disorder threaten the economic stability of these businesses and pose serious security risks.

We urge all levels of government to strongly consider the interests of businesses and taxpayers when formulating solutions. It is imperative that measures are taken to alleviate the burdens on private sector enterprises and to promote investment without excessive regulatory hurdles. A thriving business community is crucial for the sustained prosperity and vibrancy of the Comox Valley.

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce remains steadfast in our mission to support our members and foster growth, community, and best business practices. Together, we can work towards a future where our community is not only prosperous but also inclusive and supportive of all its members.
